SDU Welcomed Two International KNB Scholarship Students

SDU – On September 14, 2026, Sanata Dharma University welcomed two International KNB Scholarship students with an orientation session held by the International Office of Sanata Dharma University. Among the students studying here are Le Thi Dung from Vietnam and Chelsea Jadyn Correa from Belize. This program offers opportunities for them to learn not just academically but also through cultural experiences while living in Indonesia.

As in previous years, these students will pursue their studies at Sanata Dharma University. One will enroll in a graduate program, while the other will pursue an undergraduate degree. Le Thi Dung (Dina) will study in the Master’s Program in Cultural Studies, while Chelsea will enroll in the Undergraduate Program in Mechanical Engineering. Before starting their academic programs, both students are required to take a one-year Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) course at the Language Institute of Sanata Dharma University (LBUSD). The course is intended to equip them with the Indonesian language skills they need for daily academic and non-academic activities in Indonesia.

The orientation was led by Yurisdixta Menavia, Head of the International Office, and Caecilia Tutyandari, Ph.D., Vice Rector IV. In her remarks, she welcomed the new KNB students and expressed her appreciation for their presence at Sanata Dharma University. The orientation covered several important topics, including information about the university, immigration matters, and daily etiquette and customs in Indonesia, particularly in Yogyakarta. The students were also introduced to the university’s facilities through a short campus tour around the first and second campus of Sanata Dharma University.

The students expressed their enthusiasm for the program and shared their excitement about studying at Sanata Dharma University. “I look forward to experiencing the many fascinating aspects of Indonesian culture during my time in Indonesia, and specifically at Sanata Dharma University,” said Le Thi Dung, a student from Vietnam who will be pursuing a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies. Building on the academic foundation she gained through her bachelor’s degree in Southeast Asian Studies, Le Thi Dung believes that the program is a fitting choice for continuing her academic journey.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, who traveled all the way from Belize to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to study at Sanata Dharma University. “I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to commence my studies at Sanata Dharma and start this new chapter in Indonesia,” she shared. She also expressed her hope that the knowledge and experience she gains at USD will enable her to contribute to and benefit her home country in the future.

These students will soon embark on their academic journeys at Sanata Dharma University. They are expected to adapt well to their new environment and make meaningful achievements throughout their studies in Indonesia.
