SDU – July 16-17, Sanata Dharma University hosted the S.E.E.D. (Sustainable Ideas through Education, Engineering, and Design) Competition Indonesia 2025. The event welcomed 29 teams of students from five Universities in Indonesia, which implemented the collaboration between the Mathematics and Science Education Department of SDU and Sogang University in South Korea.<\/span><\/p>

This competition was a part of the strategic collaboration established between SDU and Sogang University. Various universities in Korea, the members of the Scientists and Engineers Without Borders (SEWB) initiative, were directly involved in this competition. Through this program, the scholars and practitioners encourage innovative and sustainable solutions for global challenges.<\/span><\/p>

The spirit of cross-institution collaboration in supporting innovative and sustainable higher education is significantly showcased by the participation of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha (Undiksha), Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES), Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, and Sanata Dharma University (SDU).<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Prof. Ir. Sudi Mungkasi, Ph.D., the SDU\u2019s Vice Rector for the Academic Affairs, said in his remarks that this competition was a form of Sanata Dharma University\u2019s commitment to representing meaningful changes through knowledge.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0\u201cSanata Dharma University is leaning on the knowledge to upgrade the life quality through education. This is linear with the Jesuit\u2019s spirit: men and women for and with others,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>

Leader of the Collaboration Team of LLDIKTI region V Yogyakarta, Marcella Dwinda Danti Hutami, also expressed her appreciation.<\/span><\/p>

She said, \u201cI am here to deliver the award to SDU, which is actively building a network locally and internationally, and designing globally related programs tangibly.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

From 10.00 to 17.00, during the competition, each team presented its innovative project, which combined education, technology, and design elements as the solution for the various challenges in the future. Eight out of 29 teams passed the selection round and continued to the final round.<\/span><\/p>

The SINIMED team of UPI emerged as the competition’s winner and was entitled to the Grand Award. The two teams from Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha and ISI Yogyakarta received the Gold Award. The Silver Award was handed to the five teams of\u00a0 SDU, UNNES, ISI Yogyakarta, and UPI. The other ten from various universities receive the Bronze Award.<\/span><\/p>

This competition also gave eight special award categories to the participants, which were:<\/span><\/p>

Best Innovation: Tim Luminolythic (UPI)<\/span><\/p>

Best Social Impact: Tim ARTIFACTS (ISI Yogyakarta)<\/span><\/p>

Best Design & Functions: Tim Undiksha 1<\/span><\/p>

Best Profitable Mind: Tim Jataka (ISI Yogyakarta)<\/span><\/p>

Best Sustainable Mind: Tim LuminoSense (UNNES)<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0Best Academic Achievement: Tim CapsDX (USD)<\/span><\/p>

Best Entrepreneurship: Tim Kowi (USD), award from the Government of Yogyakarta<\/span><\/p>

Best Friendship: Tim SINIMED (UPI), for showing the collaborative spirit<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The nine teams from SDU, ISI Yogyakarta,\u00a0and UNNES\u00a0also received the Honorable Mentions for their insightful idea and teamwork. The special category winners were awarded a 3D printer, which was handed by Prof. Kwanwoo Shin from Sogang University.<\/span><\/p>

In his remarks, Prof. Shin appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants and highlighted the importance of the program\u2019s sustainability.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cThis is a wonderful chance for students to keep creating innovative solutions, especially in the science and technology field. We commit to keep collaborating for a cleaner and more sustainable future,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>

S.E.E.D. Competition Indonesia 2025 was not only a contest but also a space for cross-cultural education and idea exchange, and a real act to build the future together.
