We founded a consortium called CLASS (Cultural, Literary, and Arts Studies Society) through which we have shared key note speakers as well as managed joint researches and conferences in our respective universities. The articles culminating from the colloquia and conferences have been published in reputed international journals, such as Kritika Kultura and Diaspora and Cultural Criticism. The consortium has produced several thematic researches and articles, such as \u201cliterary modernism\u201d, \u201cliterary liquidities\u201d, and lately \u201cisland studies\u201d.<\/p><p>Island studies as a grand theme was initiated in 2018 in Jakarta, when the consortium developed its membership to include the representatives from the University of the Philippines, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Kristen Indonesia. The first round of the series of this general theme was hosted by the Ateneo de Manila University in 2019 and the subsequent colloquia and conferences will be hosted in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Korea.<\/p><p>The Steering Committee of the consortium is composed of Dr. Vincenz Serrano ( ADMU), Dr. Maria Luisa Torres Reyes (UST) Dr. Ramon Guillermo (UP), Dr. Hope Sabanpan-Yu (USC), Inseop Shin (KU), Dr. Paulus Sarwoto (USD), Dr. Ied Veda R. By taking a number of shrines and their organizations as case studies, this research is guided by these questions: why do Catholic shrines in Indonesia and Southeast Asia continue to draw pilgrims, including those of other faiths?<\/p><p>This research is part of a larger study-project done by the International Center for Mission and Formation (CIAM \u2013 Centro Internazionale di Animazione Missionaria), an agency within the Vatican\u2019s Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples in Rome.
